Though Highland Green is just 1.2 miles from the Interstate 295 corridor for easy access to Freeport, Portland, Southern Maine and Boston, it is also on the Route 196 Coastal Connector at the gateway to Midcoast Maine. A quick glance at a map of Midcoast Maine will inform any newcomer that they have arrived at a very special place.
Beginning roughly in Topsham and Harpswell to the south and stretching north to Mt. Desert Island, the Midcoast region encompasses a series of “fingers” or peninsulas that add up to hundreds of miles of shoreline. In between you’ll find snug harbors and quaint fishing villages.
