Topsham Public Library Volunteering

CREA (Cathance River Education Alliance)

The mission of the Cathance River Education Alliance is to use the natural resources of the Cathance River Preserve to promote ecological awareness and nature-based learning among students, educators, and the public to foster the wise use of the Preserve-and to prepare future stewards of the Cathance River.

Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program

The Brunswick area food pantry and soup kitchen provide sustenance for thousands of area residents in need. Find information about volunteering at the food pantry, food bank, and backpack program during the school year, or soup kitchen in Brunswick.

Habitat for Humanity 7 Rivers

The local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat seeks to provide decent affordable housing for working families through its network of volunteers.

Maine Maritime Museum
Maine Maritime Museum celebrates Maine’s maritime heritage and culture in order to educate the community and a worldwide audience about the important role of Maine in regional and global maritime activities.

The Museum accomplishes this through preservation and dissemination of historical materials and information, engaging educational programs, relevant and compelling exhibitions, and a unique historic shipyard, all connecting the past to contemporary and future issues.

Mid Coast Symphony Orchestra

The Mid Coast Symphony is a nonprofit, volunteer, community-based organization that depends on the generosity of orchestra and community members for support. The orchestra plays in the Fall/Winter performing four concerts in both Lewiston and in Topsham.

Coastal Humane Society

Since their founding 65 years ago, the Coastal Humane Society has cared for and adopted out tens of thousands of animals, and each one is spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, tested, and ready for a new home.

Located in Brunswick, they have a number of programs and services committed to compassionate care and excellent animal placements, returning lost animals to their families, providing support and resources for pet owners, and educating the community.

American Red Cross of Northern New England

The Mid Coast Maine chapter is located right across the road at 16 Community Way. The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Their network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world.

Hospice Volunteer Services of CHANS Home Health Care

People Plus

People Plus Center in Brunswick supports an engaged, healthy, and independent life for older adults and teenagers, while joining others to build community for all ages.

There are many types of volunteer opportunities including driving, Teen Center Mentor, Cooking and Events volunteers, office work and teaching classes.

Midcoast Literacy

Needs volunteer tutors, and people to hep in the office or with events. Midcoast Literacy is located at 34 Wing Farm Parkway, Bath; Contact the volunteer coordinator at 443-6384. They provide services for Sagadahoc County, which includes Topsham.

Merrymeeting Adult Education

Needs volunteers to tutor adults in English and/or Math. MAE is located at 35 Republic Avenue, Topsham; Contact the volunteer coordinator at 729-7323.

The American Cancer Society

Needs volunteers for a variety of tasks, such as office work, mailings, driving patients to appointments, assisting with the annual cancer conference in Augusta, social advocacy, and more. Volunteer Sign-up

Alzheimer’s Association of Maine

Advocate, join a Memory Walk, take a caregiver’s class or donate money. The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter counts on volunteers to help them achieve their vision of creating a world without Alzheimer’s disease.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Volunteer, become a member, or support them with admission fees to visit the beautiful gardens in Boothbay.  Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens comprises 270 acres of tidal shore land and welcomes more than 100,000 guests throughout the year.

Mid Coast Hospital Volunteer Opportunities

As a volunteer, you can provide a wonderful service to your community hospital while making new friends, meeting new people, learning new skills, developing new interests, and educating you and your family about healthcare opportunities close to your home. You will also receive free flu shots, volunteer/Auxiliary newsletters, an invitation to the annual recognition party with awards, discounts on over-the-counter drugs, Café food and movie tickets.
